I was so excited to read about DJI’s New Pilot Training courses specifically geared to new pilots or those wishing to learn basic quadcopter flight skills and safety awareness. There is a class scheduled in Philadelphia on March 21st and I will make it a point to join this lecture. In my short time working with the DJI Phantom 2, I found flying this machine requires many variables that the pilot has to quickly learn to safely control the craft. While I like a challenge where I gain new skills, I found the lack of quality training resources worrisome. The quadcopter is not a toy and should be treated as an aerial vehicle. Training is essential to safe flying and I’m happy to see DJI stepping up to fill this void in training.
