Snow Shoes and Hot Springs – A Classic Idaho Adventure

Snow Shoes and Hot Springs

Winter Magic

There was no need for words in this video, just sit back and enjoy the scenery.

Snowshoeing and Hot Spring Soaking

My first visit to Gold Forks Hot Springs in Donnelly, Idaho. I had the opportunity to test out snowshoeing on the snowed-in road that wrapped around the hot spring. The mountain scenery was breathtaking on the drive to the Springs. And what I mean by breathtaking it was a winding two-lane highway (ID-55) that leads up the mountain to the turn off for Gold Fork Hot Springs. I utilized every slow driver pull off as I learned how to drive scary winding roads up a mountainside. I loved snowshoeing! It took a bit of time to adjust the straps on the MSR EVO Ascent as we followed along a winding creek. The scenery was better than my best imaginings of winter in Idaho, it was practically Narnian. We ate lunch amidst snow-covered evergreen trees and watched the water bubble and flow past in the creek below. The beautiful silence settled in my marrow and when I close my eyes, I’m right back amid the silence and the evergreens. The hot springs have spoiled me for future snowshoeing adventures. An absolutely delightful way to relax before heading home to Bosie.
