Trading Skyscrapers for Foothills.

One month ago, I landed in Boise just after midnight on October 19th. With Penny secured in her travel crate, I sat in darkness as we were transported to a nearby hotel.

Indeed, it is always dark before the dawn.

When I woke later that morning, it was still dark. The sun rose around 8 am.  During breakfast, I googled ways to manage the perpetual darkness of winter, Scandinavia style.

Things were different in Boise from day one. And, in my humble opinion, different is always a good thing, and not the debil as some would believe.

It is not everyday one gets to choose to reboot their life. I spent a good 2 1/2 weeks with only the items contained in two overstuffed suitcases. No furniture, no wardrobe, no computer (apart from an iPhone), and no car. And I was alright.  I spent a week walking, exploring the new neighborhood and soaking in views of the foothills that replaced skyscrapers and tidal marshes of Philly.

I was fortunate to arrive with a support system in place and it has made all the difference.

One month in and I’m going to be alright.
